The reasons in which I’ve dedicated my life to documenting are simple, really.

This work is incredibly versatile & documenting truthfully can be far more complex than one may recognize. The real art, is habituating myself into ones personal space & within minutes. It is my privilege to become for you, exactly who you need me to be, unobtrusively reading the room. My images are manifested by this art. 

It is portrait photography by which I am drawn. I love people, and the relationships I have with them fiercely. Photography is as much about connecting as it is an artform itself. So much about what we do together is about conversation and it is the conversation, movement and shifting natural light that will guide our session. It is my sixth sense when direction is needed and when space is requisite. There are moments in which it is my responsibly to be still & silent… and moments when my energy and orchestration are mandatory.

Hali has a strong pull to capturing details, quiet moments, and sincere emotion. One of Leelanau counties up and coming wanted wedding photographers is confidently delivering beautiful love stories to those who have deep connections to “Up North” and Lake Michigan.

Hali has been working with j.zevalkink photo for the past several years and has become Jessie’s third appendage. She is sunny and kind, creative and observant. Having apprenticed for some of the most experienced photographers in Northern Michigan, gathering expertise and wisdom in both the wedding industry and world of documentary photo. Hali has been hand picked by Jess as a talented photographer and team member and is available for portrait sessions and weddings in 2024 and 2025.
